India-based Vicco Labs has launched its ‘Turmeric’ range of products in EPL’s 100% recyclable sustainable Platina tube packaging.
Vicco Labs manufactures Indian Ayurvedic herbal hygiene, healthcare and other products, while EPL produces laminated plastic tubes. The Association of Plastic Recyclers (APR) of the US has recognised Platina 250, 300 and 350 lamitubes as meeting or exceeding the stringent APR HDPE guidance standards on recyclability, said EPL.
The two companies’ teams worked closely to carry out necessary testing and ensure quality standards of the products are met before they are introduced in the market.
Vicco’s products that have been converted range to recyclable packaging include Vicco Turmeric Skin Cream, Vicco Turmeric Aloe Vera Skin Cream, Vicco Turmeric WSO Cream, and Vicco Turmeric Face Wash.
These are now available in modern trade, e-commerce platforms, and traditional trade platforms.
Commenting on the launch, Vicco Labs director Deep Pendharkar said: “We are happy to lead the sustainability agenda and convert to recyclable packaging.
“This step is a way forward in order to achieve our sustainability commitments. EPL remains our partner of choice for innovative and sustainable tube packaging.”
Once used, Platina tubes can be recycled in the Code 2 plastic stream used around the world for recycling products such as milk cans and juice bottles.
EPL said that Platina tubes also help minimise the usage of plastic through down gauging, supporting FMCG brands to meet their sustainability targets.
EPL AMESA president Deepak Ganjoo said: “We are delighted to partner with Vicco labs in this achievement and help them meet their sustainability commitments.
“EPL has been leading the pack in sustainable innovations, and we will continue to support leading brands in launching products in recyclable tube packaging. This is in line with our commitment towards sustainable environment.”
With more than 2,852 employees, EPL manufactures laminated plastic tubes serving companies in the FMCG and pharmaceutical industries.
