ProAmpac introduces PRO-EVO recyclable paper-based bag

ProAmpac, a flexible packaging and material science company, has added a new patent-pending PRO-EVO Recyclable platform to the ProActive Recyclable series of products.

PRO-EVO Recyclable platform is a multi-wall paper-based self-opening-sack (SOS) bag certified for curbside recycling and said to be suitable for dry pet food.

ProAmpac product manager Ben Davis said: “Pet food brands want recyclable paper-based packaging solutions.

“The PRO-EVO Recyclable platform fulfils ProAmpac’s promise to deliver more recyclable packaging solutions without sacrificing end-use performance and filling line efficiency.”

According to the flexible packaging firm, the latest member of the ProActive Recyclable series offers more grease and edge-wicking resistance without any per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS).

PRO-EVO Recyclable intends to maintain the freshness of pet foods using its high moisture barrier.

ProAmpac global product development and innovation senior vice president Hesam Tabatabaei said: “PRO-EVO Recyclable offers excellent shelf presence and a robust structure with high drop resistance.

“These patent-pending technologies are engineered to have various moisture barrier levels, excellent organoleptic properties for pet food applications, and run-at-rate on the standard filling equipment.”

US-based ProAmpac comes under Pritzker Private Capital along with the management and co-investors.

In February this year, the company added ProActive Recyclable Paper-1000 to its ProActive Recyclable series. It is said to be heat-sealable packaging with a moisture barrier and better directional tear properties.

Recently, ProAmpac and FirstWave Innovations partnered to launch aseptic spouted pouches to the market.

SinnovaTek-owned FirstWave is a US-based co-manufacturer of aseptic food products.

The aseptic filling technology of FirstWave combined with the short-run pouching capabilities of the ProAmpac will facilitate the launch of aseptic shelf-stable liquid food in a custom-printed convenient and adaptable spouted pouch.

SinnovaTek CEO Michael Druga at that time said: “When launching new products, it’s not uncommon to have a label update or even multiple versions of a label.

“We’re happy to offer a low-commitment and low-risk way to test new products while showcasing high-quality graphics in this new spouted flexible pouch format.”
