Flexible packaging manufacturer ProAmpac is planning to build a Collaboration and Innovation Centre (CIC) at its manufacturing facility near Rochester, New York, US.
The new 25,000ft² facility will be constructed as an extension to the ProAmpac Rochester facility that manufactures flexible pouches and serves as a unique resource for short runs.
ProAmpac chief commercial officer Adam Grose said: “Short runs are extremely valuable for limited production-line testing of new packaging concepts that have just been prototyped.”
When completed, the new location will support ProAmpac’s Collaborative Innovation process, where the company’s engineers and product development teams collaborate with its customers.
The facility will also help to develop the company’s new packaging design and rapid prototyping programme Design & Sample Lab (DASL).
In addition, a new analytical testing lab, new equipment for development and testing, training space for over 80 and several meeting and collaboration spaces will be added in the CIC.
ProAmpac CEO Greg Tucker said: “We have worked closely with the State of New York’s Empire State Development (ESD) group on a capital grant of up to $1.35m and we greatly appreciate the additional development assistance from Monroe County, Rochester Gas & Electric, and Greater Rochester Enterprise.
“It has been a collaboration from the start and we are looking forward to not only opening our new facility in mid-2021 but also the opportunity it will bring to both ProAmpac and the greater Rochester community.”
ProAmpac provides creative packaging solutions and customer service to a diverse global marketplace.
In September 2019, the company expanded its ProActive Recyclable portfolio by launching a new roll stock film R-1000 that can be used for dry food, home and personal care, as well as pet food applications.
