Rigid packaging solutions provider PACCOR has announced its decision to produce DuoSmart cups in France from the end of the year.

PACCOR France’s investment aims to diversify the production along with supporting the firm to shift toward a circular economy.

The move is backed by the French government as a part of the France Recovery Plan.

The DuoSmart cup is a hybrid cardboard/plastic packaging solution for food, especially for dairy products.

It is made by combining a PP/rPP or PET/rPET insert with a cardboard sleeve which helps to create a complete separability of the materials.

The presence of a pre-cut strip makes it simple for the consumer to detach the carton from the plastic.

The cardboard is free of any residue that might hamper its recycling because it is not glued to the cup.

PACCOR said that it will soon be manufactured in France on three new production lines that will begin operations in the fourth quarter of 2022.

The move benefits from the French Ministry of Industry’s assistance for industrial investment in territories as part of the France Recovery Plan.

PACCOR France managing director Hervé Livadaris said: “The government’s financial support is an essential lever to allow us to relocate production to France.

“It will contribute to consolidate, optimise and secure our industrial tool.”

With the addition of a new packaging design in its production line, PACCOR France is moving fast towards the transition to a circular economy.

In October last year, PACCOR joined Styrenics Circular Solutions (SCS), a value chain initiative to increase the circularity of styrenic polymers, to strengthen the sustainability of styrenic products while improving resource efficiency within the circular economy.
