Ecovia Intelligence is announcing the finalists of the 2021 Sustainable Food Awards. A large number of international entries were received this year from operators in the food industry, such as food & beverage brands, producers & processors, retailers & distributors, ingredient firms, packaging & material suppliers, etc.

An external judging panel has shortlisted the following finalists, listed in alphabetical order…

New Sustainable Product Finalists: Clif Bar Family Winery & Farm Solar Grown Raw Honey (USA), De la Conca Infusions (Spain), Nature’s Path Foods Regenerative Organic Instant Oatmeal (Canada), OGGS® Egg Alternative (UK), Oh My Gum! Plant-Based Chewing Gum (UK), Palmetto Gourmet Foods Plant-Based Ramen (USA), and The Greater Good Fresh Brewing Co. The Pinter (UK).

This award is given to a new product with some important sustainability credentials.

Sustainable Ingredient Finalists: Barry Callebaut Cabosse Naturals (Switzerland), Clif Bar Family Winery & Farm Solar Grown™ Raw Honey (USA), Del Monte Foods Upcycled Green Beans (USA), NADI LLC Wild Rosehips (USA), and Nature’s Path Foods Regenerative Organic Certified Oats (Canada).

This award is given to a new ingredient that makes a significant difference in terms of environmental and / or social impact.

Sustainable Packaging Finalists: Pacari Chocolate Compostable Wrappers (Ecuador), Jetwell GreenTech Soilable Paper Straw (Hong Kong), Riverford Organic Farmers Compostable Packaging (UK), Sirane Earthboard Salmon Boards (UK), Sirane Earthwedge Sandwich Packs (UK), and Trivium Packaging Beverage Bottles (Netherlands).

This award is given to a new packaging format that has low environmental footprint in terms of production method, design and / or materials.

Sustainability Pioneer Finalists: All Good Organics (New Zealand), Gold&Green Foods (Finland), Loop by TerraCycle (USA), Nature’s Path Foods (Canada), Riverford Organic Farmers (UK), and StreetCube (UK).

The sustainability pioneer award is given to an operator in the food industry that is a leader / pioneer in some aspect of sustainability.

Sustainability Leadership Finalists: AeroFarms (USA), Bio Foods (Sri Lanka), Cà Colonna (Italy), Nature’s Path Foods (Canada), Pacari Chocolate (Ecuador), and StreetCube (UK).

This award is given to an operator who leads in various aspects of sustainability. The organisation is displaying overall leadership in sustainability and not mastering a few areas.

The winners and runner-ups will be announced at a virtual awards ceremony on the evening of 10th June (approx. 5pm CET), hosted online because of the pandemic. The awards ceremony will be co-hosted alongside the European Virtual edition of the Sustainable Foods Summit, 8-11th June.
