YORKSHIRE Packaging Systems (YPS) informed one online-only shop that automating the packing process had improved efficiency.

The company provided infeed, bagging, auto labelling, and end-of-line automatic sortation. This has increased throughput and reduced pack bench count from 15 to six.

YPS said this savings pays for the automated system in under a year.

The completely automated system has three main parts:

An 8m staged infeed conveyor fed by six pack benches (three per side).

A Flexo E-com automated bagging machine creates compact shipping bundles. A Videojet thermal print labelling system with advanced data management ensures GDPR compliance.

An automated sortation system at the end of the queue dispatches each finished pack to the right carrier network dispatch point.

YPS supplies 100% recyclable, 70%+ recycled printed film for the automated bagging equipment to construct the postal pack.

MD Glyn Johnson remarked, “We supply all sorts of operations with automated packaging equipment and materials. This includes whole systems like this, where we coordinate the delivery of elements to meet the customer’s packaging goals.”

The new investment created a ‘fluid, high-speed’ system that prepares over 600 home textile packs every hour for shipment.
