US-based flexible packaging solutions maker JBM Packaging has unveiled its latest plastic-free, windowed paper package line, dubbed EcoView.
JBM Packaging has designed the new range of paper to offer firms a substitute for poly film packages made from non-renewable resources.
For the windowed packaging, EcoView is using a clear biodegradable film made from wood and cotton-seed fibres, called Fiberfilm. The clear windows offer product visibility in a recyclable package.
Fiberfilm is a JBM-exclusive translucent film made from PEFC-certified wood pulp that provides visibility and protection and is present at the centre of each EcoView package.
According to the company, the film has earned home composting certification and is guaranteed to decompose in natural, freshwater conditions. It is also certified by TÜV certification that it complies with strict environmental regulatory norms.
Fiberfilm, which is made of diacetate, ensures that the full EcoView package may be recycled in curbside recycling programmes because it does not impair the integrity of the recycling stream, the flexible packaging firm said.
JBM Packaging sales and marketing vice president David Warren said: “People want to enjoy natural environments without seeing plastic waste littered alongside hiking trails and waterways.
“Our EcoView packaging line evolved from customers looking for curbside recyclable packaging solutions that showcased their product and eliminated plastic. EcoView delivers optimal packaging performance without the environmental impact.”
EcoView offers three various window sizes, including sneak peek, partial view, and full display. Each size provides clients with increasing degrees of clear, protected product views as well as more room for branding and marketing.
JBM said that all EcoView packages can be custom-created using papers that contain various percentages of recycled content to achieve sustainability objectives.
Different papers, varieties of closures, and hanging holes are further customisation possibilities that enable firms to create distinctive packaging.
Starting with a windowed seed packet, customer-driven innovation led to the creation of the new product line, the company added.
JBM supports its customers with plastic-free packaging beginning with a discovery phase where customers set goals and consider all options for a new plastic-free package.
