Yangi has announced its new fibre-based container lid for dry and ambient food products, made from 100% renewable material and designed to meet growing consumer preference for environmentally conscious options.

Yangi says its cellulose-based container lids fit into worldwide recycling systems, and the company utilizes its dry forming production process, aiming to significantly reduce the product’s environmental footprint. The lid is available with both embossing and debossing features for branding opportunities.

The Cellera dry forming manufacturing technology is currently being used in Yangi’s production facility in Varberg, Sweden. The company adds it is currently qualifying investments in its commercial machine platform to give select partners a first-movers advantage in the market.

“We are proud to announce a new addition to Yangi’s portfolio: container lids for dry and ambient food. While this marks an important step in further validating Yangi’s dry forming technology, we are continuously innovating to further develop more advanced product offers and barrier properties, meeting the evolving demands of the food industry,” says Yangi CEO Johann Kaiser.

In March, Yangi partnered with industrial market solution company GDM to scale up the delivery of the Cellera technology platform. Yangi claims it offers a complete solution to packaging producers and brands with its Cellera machine platform and customized packages of services, including consulting services for packaging designs and material on subscription.

More recently, Blue Ocean Closures announced commercial launch plans for its fibre-based screw cap, in partnership with Sweden-based nutritional supplements provider Great Earth. Apparently recyclable in paper waste streams, the companies hope this solution can provide a viable alternative to existing plastic screw caps.
